Workshop Brief
Traditional forms of creating art have been based on teaching techniques as opposed to focusing on the actual thought process underscoring the creation of art. Participants will experience various ways to develop their work into final pieces of art while keeping the art buyer, collector or gallery in mind.
Exploration of the origin of ideas and the creative process and methods applied to sketching, scaled drawings, materials, mockettes, painting, and sculpting. Alternative methodologies for the creative process will be reviewed along with the steps associated in the development of ideas in art including; Ideation, Pre-Conception and Execution of Art.
The objective of this workshop is to take students thru the conceptual process of creating art, beginning with research of ideas and exploration of personal experiences to translating thoughts into forms, materials and final works of art. These creative exercises will expose participants to established methods of exploration and re-configuration of objective form. Workshop artist will be challenged to re-consider the order/culture/message/form/media of their creations and will be coached on how to make critical decisions that will take their art to a new phase.
Ideal Workshop Candidate
Prime candidates for this session are artists young and established (18 and up) interested in alternative creative processes of ideation for their art that are ready to explore new creative methods and push their thinking to new levels and question what should be created. Candidates may come from a Fine Art background including individuals developing and pursuing careers as artists, art historians, art educators, gallery directors or curators. This is not a workshop in art techniques nor is it established for beginners who do not have some training in drawing, design and media. It is for artists who are ready to move to a higher level of creative thinking and development.
