Workshop Brief
This is a very focused workshop for the artist, gallery, dealer members of Glass Alliance - New Mexico. Instructors Martha Walker and Jack Sprague bring their gallery, academic, artist and art institute backgrounds and experience to the workshop to improve and facilitate communication in the art world.
Ongoing situations in these difficult economic times have created much stress resulting in a lack of collaborative communication among those of us who need to work together in harmony for the mutual success of everyone. This workshop has been designed open up a dialogue among everyone and to improve our communication when difficult situations arise.
- For the artist, we will discuss contracts, schedules, shows, packaging, presentation, artist statements, self-promotion and marketing, pricing, considerations, collectors, breakage, personal insurance, derivative art, one-of-a-kind, series, editions, gallery expectations and collections.
- For the gallery manager and dealer, we will discuss documentation, contracts, scheduling, shows, websites, invitations, images, commissions, gallery placement, lighting, advertisements, breakage, insurance, artist expectations, bookkeeping, receptions, presentations, collector and collector groups.
- For everyone, we will work to improve upon effective communication, mutual respect and understanding of differing professional perspectives, address awareness of business realities, business and marketing education, and business operations, and attempt to resolve any outstanding issues between artists and gallery managers and dealers.
Registration & Fees
The cost of this workshop is $100 per attendee. Lunch will be served each day. Space is limited. Registration closes on March 1, 2010.
